Having learned about BH Cosmetics through various Youtube videos and blogs, I was, to say the least, extremely curious about them.
I was delighted to stumble upon beautystore4u, a uk based website that sell BH Cosmetics (amongst many other brands!) with FREE UK delivery! How fantastic is that?
The Pink-a-dot brush set caught my eye immediately with its adorable dotty design and good selection of brushes. The set comes with a convenient and very cute brush holder that doubles as a travel case to protect your brushes from damage and keep them hygienic on the go.
I have grouped the face and eye brushes together accordingly for this review.
Overall the bristles on all of these brushes are extremely soft. And, just incase you were wondering, they are cruelty-free. In fact, BH Cosmetics are listed on the official Leaping Bunny website as a certified cruelty-free brand. Double yay!
Deluxe Fan brush: A dense brush with fanned out bristles. Ideal for sweeping powder over the face or as a contouring brush. The density of the bristles make for a more concentrated application. This brush has a little extra width to it, making it a little easier to distribute and blend out product over the face.
Powder Brush: Ideal for applying powder and actually works great for creme products too. The density of the bristles holds a decent amount of product and blends seamlessly. The bristles have a slight flexibility to them making it ideal for applying product to any 'hard to reach' area of the face.
Angled Blush Brush: A very soft, dense (yet flexible) brush, perfect for applying any powdered or creme blush product. Works well with contour powder too! Blends beautifully and fits the contours of the face effortlessly giving a seamless finish. Truthfully, I have yet to own another blush brush that blends as well as this one.
Classic Foundation Brush: To be completely honest, I much prefer a rounded or dome shaped foundation brush, so this is the only brush out of the entire set that I don't reach for as often as the others. However the quality of it is still fantastic. The bristles are densely packed, fairly flexible and soft enough to give a smooth finish to any liquid or creme foundation. If you're a fan of flat foundation brushes then this will most definitely suit you.
Classic Shadow Brush: Applies shadow to the eyes smoothly and evenly. For me, the flatter form to the brush is its only 'downfall', as again, I much prefer more dome shaped or 'fluffier' eye shadow brushes since I find they provide more movement and surface area to spread product over the lids. However, I still use this brush and it works very well with both creme and powdered eye make up.
Angled Shadow Brush: Densely packed, soft bristles with an angled tip. Its precise form means you can easily create a more defined crease and blend into the contours of the eyes. Works well with any type of product and it's great at smudging out eyeliner too!
Flat Eyeliner Brush: The straight edged bristles on this brush are ideal for setting eyeliner along the lash line. I also love to use this brush for blending powdered product into the brows.
Small Smudge Brush: Smudges or softens any eyeshadow or liner with ease. Precise enough to create a smudged out smokey eye and works well for simply applying eyeshadow to the lash lines to shade or to set eyeliner.
Tapered Eyeliner Brush: My personal favourite use for this brush is to smudge/blend out my eyeliner or set it. Its fine point reaches all those crevices on the eye and blends product out very neatly.
Tapered Shadow Blending Brush: Flexible, soft and blends like a dream. I adore this brush for smoking out eyeshadow in the crease. It does a great job and its densely packed bristles mean the product stays where you place it. Also works well with creme products.
Lip Brush: I rarely use lip brushes but when I do, I usually use them for red lipstick or liquid formula lipsticks. This blends smoothly and accurately over the lips. It even doubles as a fine eye brush, making it ideal to apply highlighting shades to the inner corners of the eyes.
I have had these brushes for a few months now and had no problems with the brushes shedding or bleeding. Once they are deep cleaned (washed), they dry fairly quickly. I'm very impressed considering they cost me under £20. (I had a 10% discount when I signed up. I believe this offer may be still running!)
