Review: Hiraeth Candles Soy Wax Melts

22 August 2016

I love candles but sometimes I find even the best branded ones have such an underwhelming scent that barely touches the atmosphere of my room. Disappointing given how expensive some of them are! I was curious about wax melts but still remained a little unsure due to my past experiences with certain candles.

A beautiful scent warms your home. Combined with gentle candle light, it gives a comforting feeling. I don't enjoy floral scents at all. In fact, I'm allergic to them. So the fruity scents of these soy wax melts pleased me from the moment I got them.

I received the melts from Hiraeth Candles at a blogger event and couldn't wait to test them out. They are shaped like flowers so very cute to look at. However, I wasn't able to obtain a burner until very recently (it was gifted to me by my neighbour).

To use wax melts you need an oil burner or a candle holder with inbuilt oil burner (which is what I have. Mine also has a lid with diffusing holes). The wax melt is placed on the top and then a tea light candle (mine is from Wilkinsons) is placed inside the candle holder so the heat liquidises the wax melt above it and the scent is given off.

I started off with the Thai Lime and Mango scented melt. Within half an hour my room was filled with a generous sweet fruity scent that carried a mild lime citrus note. Gorgeous.

The Sunshine Fruits melt smelled heavenly. Perfectly sweet and deliciously fruity.

And yes, since these are soy melts they are vegan friendly :)

I'm definitely converted to being a soy wax melt junkie now!
