New Make-Up This Month

2 August 2017

After tossing away unusable products in a huge clearout recently I decided to never become a make-up hoarder ever again.

I fell into the trap of collecting too much make-up relatively quickly into my journey of becoming both a make-up artist and make-up lover. I partly blame Youtube for its huge influence throughout my teens and twenties (wow Michelle, sounding so young there) and I partly blame myself.

Nowadays I aim to only purchase products I need because I have run out or because I don't have that particular item in my kit/collection.

Let's explore which new goodies I discovered this month and re-visit some old favourites...

Eyeliner is one product I replace on a monthly basis because I wear so damn much of it. Thick winged eyeliner is my signature style so I frequently reach for both liquid and pencil liner.

And this was a treasure I found a good few months back for under £2. My beloved Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil. It's the perfect consistency, glides on easily and stays put.

From one pencil product to another. I needed *something* for my eyebrows. My old favourite was from Maybelline but I refuse to buy make-up that isn't cruelty-free anymore so I am in the midst of hunting for a replacement for Brow Satin. Does this Sleek brow stylist match up? Eh, it's not bad but I don't think it's my HG at this point in time :( I love the convenience of a brow product in a pen/pencil form so I'll definitely stick to this kind. Plus the in-built brow spoolie thing is pretty awesome.

I'd never tried IT Cosmetics before. I saw it as one of those brands only available in the US (to my knowledge it still is). Naturally I squeaked with delight when I was given Superhero as a gift.

So far, I'm enjoying it. I'll be updating you further on this in an upcoming post so keep a close eye out for it.

Barry M. The oldie but goodie brand I've been using since my younger days (there I go again sounding youthful).

Their nail paints give me life but the drying time would drive me insane because I have no patience and they do take a good five or ten minutes out of my life. When the Speedy Quick Dry line came out I was euphoric. I frigging love these, they are amazing. I picked up Dead Heat, a stunning pillarbox red and paired it with the Matte Me Up liquid lip paint in Paparazzi. If you'd like to hear more about these then leave a comment and let me know!

I'm in my early 30s but my skin thinks I'm a teenager. I've got the whole combination/prone to breakouts thing going on so setting powder is a must to hold my shine at bay and ensure my make-up stays put.

NYX #NoFilter finishing powder has a light, silky smooth texture and super weightless feel. I'm still in the initial stages of testing this out but so far I'm leaning towards liking this powder a lot.

My first experience with Lottie London was the Rose Golds palette. Since I loved that palette so much I decided to pick up a second. This time I opted for The Rusts palette. The unique burned oranges, reddish browns and earthy bronze shades in this palette are SO gorgeous. What I love most is how pigmented each type of finish is in these palettes. Even the matte shades blend like a dream!

When I'm not wearing neutral shades I like to ramp up the colour. Purple is one of my favourites so I grabbed Epic by NYX. This is literally purple perfection.

Lastly, I picked up these matte lipsticks from New Look's own line. Dusty Pink, on the left, is a muted pink with a slight peach undertone. Orchid, on the right, lands within the medium pink spectrum. It has a little depth but still maintains a muted appearance on the lips.

I was looking for a specific shade but sadly neither of us were what I was hoping for. However they are still very wearable. comfortable and pretty so I won't let them go to waste! n

That's it. That's all I got I swear!
