October has been my month for discovering new beauty and skincare products. Unfortunately it was also my month of being struck down with severe gastroenteritis which is why posts have been sparse these past few weeks.
Don't forget to keep up with me on twitter so you can follow me along in my life's endeavours. I promise to share all the good stuff.
Now. Less babble, more favourites. I found some amazing goodies this month and I'm DYING to share them with you.
It's been some time since I've visited The Body Shop. I'd clean forgotten just how amazing their body butters are. This one just blows them all out of the water.
Enter, Vanilla Pumpkin. A combination that works as well as it lingers on the skin (my boyfriend complimented how good it smelled when I wore this).
The scent is constructed of pumpkin, vanilla from Madagascar, hints of tonka bean, hazelnut and maple syrup, leaving THE sweetest of notes on the skin.
My skin reached HEAVENLY heights of softness and smelled just delicious.
Micellar Water has been my skin's dream come true. As someone who wears a ton of eye make up there's nothing that feels worse than having to spend ages attempting to remove it at the end of the day. Usually I'm ready for bed by that point so I want it all off my face and fast.
Simple's Micellar Cleansing Water is hands down the best I've ever used. It takes off my most heavy duty make up with ease, leaving my skin feeling clean and refreshed without drying it out.
It's imperative for me to wear primer. Primer smooths the surface of the skin, allowing for easier make up application. Plus, it stops those pesky pores and lines from clinging to your make up.
I'm absolutely in love with my Collection Primed and Ready face primer. It has mattifying properties as well as witch hazel to help fight break outs. Perfect for my break out prone skin that thinks I'm still a teenager...
Application is soft and smooth, make up glides on top with ease. It extends the wear of my make up beautifully. A complete treasure for under £10.
I'd never found a drugstore eye primer I loved until now. This stuff is just amazing. It keeps your eye make up on all day (all night too if you're going the distance). No more creased shadows or liner smuging everywhere. The formula is flexible, smooth and blends beautifully. Whilst this does brighten the tone of shadows to some extent, I still use my NYX White Eyeshadow base on top of this to make my eyeshadow pigment stand out as vibrantly as I like it to.
Eye primers are fantastic for preventing movement of eye make up (creasing, settling into lines, etc) but what makes pigment stand out more is an adhesive base, hence why I use two products underneath my eye make up.
My one minor dissatisfaction is with the packaging. A doe foot wand applicator isn't the most hygienic. If it came in a nozzle tube it'd be absolutely holy grail. NYX, please make it happen?
Whether you use concealer for its intended purpose or a variety of them, Lottie London's Got It Covered will give you full, matte coverage without dehydrating the skin. I love that it contains vitamin E as a skin-saving ingredient.
With a formula on the thicker, creamier side a little goes a long way. Best used by squeezing a small amount on to the back of your hand and applying from there. The sponge applicator is nice but sponges (on make up applicators like this) are a breeding ground for bacteria so I wasn't too fond of that. The concealer itself more than made up for it though.
Just because I'm a bit of a goth girl doesn't mean I don't love glitter, okay? My old favourites were the Urban Decay Heavy Metals but a £15 price tag does not for a happy face make.
Enter these delightful little pots of magic for only £5.50 each. They come in an assortment of 12 gorgeous shades with incredible amounts of sparkle minus the gritty feeling. Most comfortable drugstore brand glitters I've ever worn. I bought one and fell so much for them that I now own nearly every shade they make!
Definitely don't use these without the NYX glitter primer. This stuff is just incredible. Layer underneath your glitters to make them POP like a firecracker. It'll stop the glitter falling all over your face too so it only applies and stays where you put it. Yay!
UGH SO PRETTY!!!
