GOSH C.C Cream Review (Porcelain)

30 August 2013

Product?

GOSH C.C Cream.

C.C stands for Colour Correction (or Colour Corrector/Control). C.C Creams are very similar to B.B (Blemish Balm. Sometimes referred to as Blemish Base or Beblesh Balm) Creams, except they offer more coverage to even out problematic skin tones. They mainly address problems like redness or sallowness. They often contain skin protecting ingredients and are a fast, easy to use alternative to foundation for those who prefer their make up to have a lighter feel and finish.

Where Can I Purchase This?

GOSH is sold in Superdrug stores or you can purchase it online if you are willing and able to.

Scent?

This product definitely has a scent to it. It's almost like a foliage type scent. Definitely takes some getting used to, though it isn't completely overwhelming and disappears after application. This scent is a result of the natural ingredients used within the product, it is not an added perfume scent.

Shades?

I purchased this in Porcelain which is the lightest shade available. I believe this currently comes in about 6 or 7 shades.

Porcelain is very light and has white-pink undertones. It oxidises (changes colour as a result of contact with skin and the general environment. Most make up does this.) slightly darker but does once it has set it does not turn orange at all.

Packaging?

You get 30ml of product in a squeeze tube with a nozzle applicator. This is THE best type of packaging for liquid make up in my opinion because it reduces waste and dispensing the product is much easier than a normal squeeze tube because of the nozzle. The nozzle helps to make dispensing the product more precise and far less messy. I love it.

The tube itself is sleek black with bright pops of green integrated into the design which compliments the natural ingredients of the formula well.

Benefits?

This C.C Cream contains SPF 10 so you get some sun protection and anti-ageing factors. It helps to keep the skin moisturised. It's also oil, perfume and paraben free. It contains Gatuline which is a natural active ingredient that has anti-aging properties and improves skin microcirculation.

Functionality? (Application, Blending, Texture, Coverage, Finish, Lasting Power)

Application

My preferred method of application for this CC cream is with clean fingers as I feel application is much smoother and I get more coverage with this method. However it works wonderfully with a normal foundation brush or a sponge too.

Blending

The formula is alike that of a slightly thinner liquid foundation. It glides on to the skin evenly and blends out very smoothly. Initial application is when you will notice the scent of this product the most. Once it has been applied however, as I mentioned previously, the scent disappears.

Texture

The texture of the formula is 'liquidy' but not overly runny so you can dispense and blend the product with ease.

Coverage

C.C creams generally give light to medium coverage. GOSH states that this gives light coverage. It is a very sheer formula but it's delightful in the fact that you can build coverage. In fact, I was able to build this up to a medium coverage. However you do need a considerable amount of product to do this. Though the coverage is light it still evens out and illuminates the tone of the skin wonderfully. It makes your skin look fresh and bright without being greasy.

I have natural redness in my cheeks and I suffer with hormonal related break outs. I found this covered the natural redness in my cheeks well and it did a fairly good job of covering spots. Remember this is a C.C cream and not a strong coverage make up base so its coverage will not be akin to concealer or foundation.
This is more ideal for those with normal skin or those with mild redness/sallowness and minimal to medium level break outs (spots). If you have very problematic skin and want to cover heavier redness, acne or sallowness I would suggest trying a foundation suitable for your skin type as opposed to a C.C cream as you may find they don't provide enough coverage for you.

I usually wear concealer underneath my eyes to cover the slight darkness I get there when I wear this C.C cream as I find the coverage not strong enough to conceal that.

Finish

There is a slight dewy finish to this initially and I find after many hours of wear that this dewiness increases considerably. I usually subdue the dewiness with some powder over the top.

I have dry skin with minor oiliness so I presume this is the reason it takes many hours for the dewiness to progress on me. I imagine anyone with oilier skin might see a much more dewy finish than myself. If you dislike dewiness you can mattify with a translucent powder. I used this product with and without powder and found it worked wonderfully either way.

Lasting Power

Happily this has a very good lasting power! I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.

I can wear this for at least 8 hours on its own before I notice any of my skin showing through. If you have oilier skin you can increase the staying power of this by using a face primer underneath it and a setting powder on top.

Re-purchase?

In comparison to previous similar products I have tried (tinted moisturisers, b.b creams) this one definitely beats the rest. It's so light weight and gives some coverage without being cakey or heavy. My skin feels like it can breathe whilst I wear this and it's so quick and easy to apply. Perfect for my 'better' skin days or when I am low on time and need to look 'put together' in a rush.

I also love the packaging and it's perfect to slip into your make up bag on the go. Great product!
