Face Of The Day (Feat. Urban Decay NAKED SMOKY + more!)

9 August 2015

I've been completely besotted with my new Urban Decay NAKED SMOKY Palette.

Today I created a medium toned smoky eye. Not as intense as I usually wear these kinds of colours but I wanted so badly to try out certain shades that I muted the look a little bit. Well, it's muted for me anyway ;)

Those of you looking for smoky eye inspiration for a special night out (or you know, just for fun!) then this look is perfectly wearable with any lip or cheek colour...

Blend eye primer over the lids and brow bone. I can't tell you how important this step is. It holds your eye make up in place and makes it last SO much longer. And there are a ton of cheap eye primers out there that work great. Make Up Revolution's Stay Don't Stray Eye Primer is up there with the best of them for drugstore primers.

I gave my eyeshadow an adhesive base and amped up the pigmentation by applying a creme base of NYX's Jumbo Pencil in Milk.

Blend Slanted (left) from the Urban Decay NAKED SMOKY palette all over the lids. Use a patting motion with your brush for a more pigmented and even finish.

Give the crease a smoky edge with Password. Sweep into the crease and soften the edges with a fluffy blending brush.

Line close to the lower lash line with a black eyeliner pencil. Seventeen's Soft Smudge pencil is formulated with a soft kohl formula, making it perfect for lining and smudging out.

Smudge along the lower edge of the liner using Black Market. This keeps the definition of the liner at the waterline whilst creating a flattering smoky gradient.

For fluttery long lashes, sweep Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde
in Black through upper and lower lashes.

Frame your eyebrows with Maybelline Brow Satin.
This is a dual ended product with a wax pencil on one end and a brow powder on the other. Shape the brows with the wax pencil and fill in using the powder for thicker looking, luxurious eyebrows.

Base make up for special occassions needs staying power. Apply a long lasting foundation with a matte finish. L'Oreal's Infallible 24 Hour Matte foundation contains no spf and its formula is completely matte so it will photograph perfectly in those special snaps.

Contour the cheek bones with Freedom Pro Contour Kit. The contour powder is pigmented but gentle so you'll achieve definition without overpowering the look.

Nearly naked lips complement any smoky eye. MAC'S Fleshpot is the right balance of nude with flattering pink undertones to give the lips an innocent finish that won't wash you out.
