Cleaning make up brushes is the most tedious part of owning them. And when you have many brushes like myself, deep cleaning them all takes a while. And that's about as fun as vacuuming your room.
Despite its tedious nature, brush cleaning is essential. It takes care of your brushes, ensuring they last longer and it protects your skin. Yes, your skin. How? Brush goes into make up, make up and brush go on to your skin. Then leftover dirt, oils and make up picked up by your brush have a party in its bristles. Gross. Not deep cleaning your brushes regularly is bad for you and bad for your brushes. It's unhygienic and you risk encouraging breakouts (and all sorts of other nasty infections!) by using make up brushes that haven't been cleaned properly.
The deep cleaning process takes time. And sometimes you just don't have time. Or sometimes you want to use the same brush for a different product or shade. What do you do?
That's where brush cleanser comes in. Brush cleanser is a very handy tool I use as a make up lover and make up artist. It allows me to clean my brush of one product so it's quickly ready to use for another. Plus, brush cleanser has anti bacterial properties so my brushes are hygienic enough to re-use.
Now brush cleanser isn't a substitute for deep cleaning. That should still be done after at least each 2-3 uses per brush. (Boo) If you have problematic skin I definitely encourage you as a qualified skin therapist (it's true, I am one of those) to deep clean your brushes after every use.
My go-to brush cleaner for a long time was the ELF Studio Brush Cleaner but unfortunately this product is no longer available in the UK. So I needed something else to replace it.
I picked up the B. brush cleanser on a complete whim recently. Superdrug constantly have fantastic deals and on this particular day many products were on a 'buy one, get one half price' offer. I figured it'd be a great time to try this out since I could use one bottle for my pro kit and one for me personally. And spend half the amount I would normally. Yay.
So I have used this a good few times now and it's become a firm favourite. I am converted. I love this brush cleanser.
It has no overwhelming scent. What little scent it does have is faint with a fresh vibe. It doesn't lean floral or heavy at all. I have allergies and floral scents aggravate those allergies so the mild fragrance was a big plus point for me. The packaging is also hygienic and the spray feature makes brush cleansing an easy, mess-free process.
More importantly, it cleans brushes great. It takes off all traces of make up quickly and effectively. I spray some on to my brush (one or two sprays for small brushes, two or three sprays for larger brushes) and then wipe off onto a paper towel. You need to wait for your brush to dry before you can re-use it (although I just cheat and dry my brush on a fresh paper towel -which takes seconds by the way!) but that doesn't take long at all. But for the sake of this review I timed mine and it took only about 5 or ten minutes! Fantastic time saver!
I love this. It leaves my brushes fresh, clean and reusable until I am ready to deep clean them.
