Essie: Ballet Slippers

7 May 2016

Pastel shades have been a recent obsession of mine. Over the past year or so I've found myself more and more drawn to pastel pink nail polishes. Essie's Ballet Slippers convinced me to break my Essie virginity. I know, I'm so late in the game on this! I'm such a grandma.

Ballet Slippers resembles its name. Its formula is fairly smooth, though reaching full opacity requires at least 3-4 coats which I wasn't fond of. I prefer to paint my nails 1-2 coats and be done as quickly as possible. It's best to allow each coat to dry completely or else you'll risk having to wait forever for this to dry. Another downside for me.

The upside is its lasting power which was pretty up to scratch. I'm pretty rough on my hands and I wore this about 3 days (minus a top coat. If I had used a top coat I imagine it would have lasted around 4-5 days for me personally) before I noticed slight wear at the edges and then chipping.

Overall, a very pretty shade for summer if you have the patience to build up the opacity.
