October Favourites 2017: Beauty And Skincare
23 October 2017
October has been my month for discovering new beauty and skincare products. Unfortunately it was also my month of being struck down with severe gastroenteritis which is why posts have been sparse these past few weeks.
Don't forget to keep up with me on twitter so you can follow me along in my life's endeavours. I promise to share all the good stuff.
Now. Less babble, more favourites. I found some amazing goodies this month and I'm DYING to share them with you.
Review: Simple Kind To Skin Hydrating Cleansing Oil & Superdrug B. Pure Micellar Oil
10 January 2017
If, like myself, you are very partial to thick eyeliner and those volumising, thickening, budge-proof mascaras then you know that removing your make up can be a difficult task.
In my experience, cleansing lotions and most other make up removal methods always left traces of mascara or eyeliner behind that I'd end up struggling to remove. I'd often find myself rubbing at my eyes in an attempt to get rid of it all which would leave my eyes sore and red.
It's admittedly taken me some time to jump on the cleansing oil bandwagon. Mostly out of fear that it would turn me into a broken out, greasy, shiny mess. As someone with combination skin prone to hormonal break outs, etc, I avoided giving in and trying them out. Until now, that is.
My Vegan And Cruelty Free Skincare Routine
30 March 2016
Since switching to a vegan lifestyle I needed to ensure the products I used were vegan friendly, obvs.
Superdrug's B. range is premium cruelty free and vegan beauty brand.Their skincare line can be found here
I'd heard some great things about this brand so I was very eager to try them out. I like to keep my skincare routine simple because I have quite 'teenage'/reactive skin due to my hormonal condition. My skin tends to react to anything heavily fragranced and I break out a lot with my periods so I'm always cautious about what I put on my face.
The B. range is extremely affordable. Both of these products combined cost under £10. Fantastic start.
Taking off your make up at the end of the day is a must. If you don't, all of the environmental dirt, oil and bacteria can cause your skin to break out. Leaving eye make up on too long or not removing it properly can also lead to nasty infections like conjunctivitis. Yikes! So it's important to use products that take ALL your make up off efficiently am I right?
Instead of combining make up remover with cotton pads I use cleansing wipes instead. I find cotton pads feel too harsh against my skin and take far too long to remove all the layers of make up I wear. I also find that cotton pads don't reach the crevices of the face as easily as wipes do.
The first item I picked up was the B Melting Gel Cleanser for Normal to dry skin. This is gentle enough to use to remove both eye and face makeup.
Following this I massage the gel cleanser over the rest of my face and cleanse with another of the Micellar wipes. I complete my routine by washing my face with this gentle face wash (This face wash is cruelty free but I am hoping to find a cleansing face wash within the B. range to try out in future as I have come to love their range so much!)
These products leave my skin competely make up free and softer than (or at least as soft as!) a baby's bum as a result of this routine. The wipes don't sting my skin at all and are sturdy and soft.
I am so in love with this range and these two treasures are now a firm staple in my skincare routine.
I'm stoked to try out their newer skincare products too! Get a sneak peek of those here
Have you tried any of the B. range make up or skincare products? What are your favourites? Be sure to let me know in the comments!
Disclaimer: Nope, I wasn't paid to write this post, nor was I asked to. All products were purchased with my own money :)
Review: Garnier Combination/Sensitive Micellar Cleansing Water
8 November 2015
They are praised for having pore clearing, hydrating and skin nourishing properties. They're a gentler alternative to most standard make up removers so they're considered ideal especially for those with sensitive skin.
I wear lots of eye make up. One look at my face of the day posts will tell you this. My eye make up survives everything I do in the world so taking it off can be challenging. The idea of scrubbing my eyes to remove my make up is definitely unappealing.
And that's why this is now my firm favourite eye make up remover. I'll still use cream formula cleanser on my face since that's just a preference of mine but this is definitely now a staple product in my make up removal kit.
It doesn't sting, it has no fragrance and it doesn't make me breakout. It's perfect for removing eye make up and takes EVERYTHING off without the need to scrub or tug the skin.
Its cool, refreshing formula feels soothing, relaxing and calms redness in the skin.
I love this infinitely.
Have you ever used Micellar Water? What do you think of it?
