Summer 2017 Make Up Staples

21 June 2017

It's officially Summer when going to sleep takes you 2 hours and your hair's glued to your head after a 30 second walk down the street.

But just because it's hot doesn't mean I don't want to have fun with my make up.

I've rounded up products that will be staples in my make-up bag for Summer 2017.

Sweet Peaches: Glowing Peach Shades For Summer!

23 June 2015

The title of this entry is dedicated to my late guinea pig, Peaches. I love you, my sweet princess peachy.

Peach tones are sweet for Summer time. Peach is a colour every skin tone can pull off. It adds a youthful flush and perfect summer glow to any complexion.

Here's my top favourites for eyes, face and lips.  Best of all, there's something for every budget.

ELF Baked Shadow in Pixie

Long lasting, crease-free, strongly pigmented dusky peach shadow with golden-pink undertones.

Urban Decay Shadow Box - Free Love

Super pigmented golden coral with a buildable, soft finish.

MAC - Free To Be

Burned Pink-Coral with a matte finish. A little tricky to blend but because the pigmentation can be built up it's ideal for those who prefer a softer application.

Smashbox Double Exposure Palette - Quartz

Soft, muted white-gold peach with a reflective finish.

Sleek - Rose Gold Blush

Highly pigmented, soft, blendable peach blush with a subtle shimmery gold finish.

ELF Studio Blush And Bronzer In St Lucia

A classic duo by ELF providing a coral toned blush with subtle shimmer and bronzer. The bronzer is a little bit too dark for my complexion but I adore the blush. It gives a very healthy glow to the skin without being overwhelming.

Sleek Face Contour Kit - Light

A perfect trio arranged into one slim purse-friendly compact. Featuring matte contouring powder (perfect for fairer skinned people!) and a beautiful golden highlighter to add definition. The blush is very similar to Rose Gold but carries a lighter peach finish for a youthful glow. Perfect for travel!

ELF Cream Blush in Tease

Soft, whipped formula that blends seamlessly with a brush or clean fingers. Creates a natural peach flush. Don't be intimidated by its dark appearance, this is actually very buildable so can be applied as lightly or as deeply as preferred! (Currently these seem to only be available in selected stores)

Peach lipstick is playful and pretty. Shades can be muted by dabbing the product on to the lip with the finger to create a stain or applied directly for a pigmented, bolder finish.

For those looking to experiment with peach lip colour but not quite ready for lipsticks, try the Sleek Pout Polish Lip Conditioner in Peach Perfection

These contain SPF to protect your lips and a sheer amount of colour to give an innocent flush to the lips. Peach Perfection is a sheer nude glossy finish.

If brighter colour is more your style then look no further than Make Up Academy's Nectar lipstick. Not only cheap but it's incredibly similar to MAC's Costa Chic and only costs £1. Ideal for those on a budget and it's a super flattering peach-coral shade!

MAC's Costa Chic is a summer classic frost finish deep peachy coral. The depth of the colour will add definition whilst the playful coral tones brighten up the lips.

Super Pigmented Coquette by Lime Crime is a delightful nude peach. Flattering for all skin tones and highly pigmented and long lasting for days in the sun.

YSL Rouge Volupte lipsticks are an investment and in all honesty these aren't my favourite finish as they can be a little drying. HOWEVER, this soft apricot shade is certainly very pretty and ideal for those who love lighter shades. I recommend wearing a lip balm underneath.

Face Of The Day (Featuring BRAND NEW make up!)

7 June 2015

The warmer season this year has found me drawn to soft peach, copper/bronze and pink shades.

Today's make up is a blend of gentle pink with a softly blended fuchsia.

I started with my make up revolution eye primer. You can see swatches of this and a full review here: Make Up Revolution Stay Don't Stray Primer and followed this up by blending NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk over the lids as an adhesive base.

Primer is so important because it locks in the eye make up and stops it from creasing, smudging and fading. Definitely a step you want to consider including in your make up application routine!

My lid colour is from one of MAC's limited edition releases. This is the Give Me Liberty Of London eyeshadow, a matte, muted, pink-peach hybrid. I contoured the crease and lower lash line of the eyes with Urban Decay's Fishnet from my custom palette (see more here Urban Decay + Smashbox Palettes Review With Swatches), which I thoroughly blended out for a softer finish.

I lined the eyes with my ultimate favourite liquid liner by Collection called Fast Stroke. Seriously, this stuff is amazing. I have used it for years now and it's never failed me.

My mascara is a new purchase I made recently. It's the latest Bourjois mascara called Volume 1 Seconde. Of course I was rather excited about its retro vintage floral packaging! A full review of this mascara is coming soon!

My base make up is MAC's Match Master foundation (review and swatches here: MAC Match Master SPF 15), set with Seventeen Stay Time powder.

I gave my brows definition and shape with the Maybelline Brow Satin pen. Let me know if you want a review of this!

My blush is Good Girl by Topshop. This is a very sugary, sweet, matte pink blush. It brightens the skin with a natural flush of colour.

Completed the look with Lime Crime Lipstick in D'Lilac. I am ADDICTED to purple lipstick, especially pastel lilac shades like this one!

Hope you enjoyed today's FOTD! What shades are you addicted to lately? Let me know!
