Review: Essence Rock N Doll Mascara AND Long Lasting Eye Pencil

20 February 2017

My eye make up tends to involve copious amounts of mascara and thick winged eyeliner. Being someone who goes through each of these things as much as I do, I'm always on the hunt for the best ones as possible at the smallest price. Or else it all gets a bit, err, pricey.

For the most part, I've always preferred drugstore mascaras and eyeliners. Mascaras especially, I feel, are amazing from many drugstore brands nowadays. There's no shame in the game of buying high end make up but for me personally, spending so much money on something I'll be wiping off at the end of the day and will need to replace so frequently just doesn't make sense.

That doesn't mean I don't want or can not find products that perform well and look great. Having used Essence make up for quite some time, I was already familiar with their I Love Extreme mascara (loved that one for the record) but had never tried out any others or their eyeliners.

I'd had my eye on their Rock N Doll Crazy XXXL (there is also a Volume and Eye-Opening version of this) mascara for a little while but never really got around to buying it until now. Whilst I was there, I grabbed the Long Lasting eyeliner. Both cost me under £5. I'm not kidding.

Review: Essence I ❤ Colour Intensifying Primer

15 August 2016

Eye Primer locks your eye shadows and liners into place leaving them more resistant to smudging, creasing and fading. It creates an even base to apply eye make up on top of. So essential to me that if I didn't have it I'd avoid wearing eye make up altogether.

And the good news is you don't have to spend a ton to find a great one anymore. There's one for every budget imaginable.

I explored some of the drugstore options out there and Essence's Colour Intensifying Primer kept catching my eye. I kept talking myself out of buying this because I thought its cheap price tag would mean it wouldn't perform very well.

❤ FOTD (Face Of The Day) ❤

3 August 2014

It was a beautiful Sunday today. The weather was amazing and I spent most of mine out with family.

Today's make up consisted of a brightly contoured eye, contoured blush and muted lips.

To keep my eye make up smudge and crease free I first blended an eye primer over the lids.

Applying an adhesive base in the form of a cream product enhances the vibrancy of your eye shadow by giving it an extra tacky surface to adhere to. I used one of my favourite NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow pencils as a cream base today.

My lid colour was Inglot's 346 from their Freedom System and I contoured with  Redemption Is Near from the Make Up Revolution Salvation Dia De Los Muertos Palette.

I defined my eyes through underlining my lower lash line with Essence I ❤ Smokey Jumbo Eye Pencil.

To smoke out and set the eyeliner pencil I smudged Head Start from Make Up Revolution's Salvation Run Boy Run Palette along the lower lash line. I also smudged a little of the eyeliner and shadow into the outer third of the upper lash line.

To complete the eyes I added definition with Essence I ❤ Extreme Mascara.

For a base with a matte finish and great SPF levels, I chose Revlon Mineral Mousse foundation in Light and set with Seventeen's Stay Time Pressed Powder.

For a pretty flush of colour I contoured my cheeks with a bright pink shade from the Make Up Revolution Ultra Blush and Contour Palette.

To complete I applied ELF's matte lip color as a base and patted Make Up Revolution Lip Geek in Babydoll over the top for a muted baby pink finish with peach undertones.

The completed look

I hope you enjoyed today's FOTD! This entry was not sponsored, I was not paid to do this entry or asked to do it by anyone. All products were purchased by myself. I use and feature products in my blog simply because I genuinely love them.
